This generator will produce 15 random names that match for the Star Trek universe Hirogen species. The Hirogen is a species of huge, smart beings that hunted other species as prey. Although no female Hirogen is found in the series, hunting their male counterparts is implied. Hunting itself is the big part of life in Hirogen. It's a part of their history, traditions and beliefs. The Hirogen likes a challenge, so they are not interested in a prey which is easy to conquer. The word "good prey" is often used as a compliment if you are the one who receives it. The names of hirogen are short, guttural and relatively plain. This is of course based on only four names: Donik, Idrin, Karr and Taranj. These patterns will suit the names in this generator, but we've expanded a little on it. Within this generator there are thousands of possible names, so no matter if you're searching for another Karr, Taranj or maybe an Idrin, there's plenty to choose from.

In the Beta Quadrant the Hirogen lived alongside the Bajorans as well, in fact there was a long and bitter rivalry between these two races. The Hirogen occupied an important role in the affairs of Bajoran society and were often found at many gatherings of both the people and their rulers. The Hirogen, also referred to as the "Vulcans", are said to have some sort of spiritual essence, which gives them their psychic powers. In the final episode of the series, "Parallels", we learn that the Hirogen have developed a strong emotional bond with the Prophets.

The Federation and the Klingons also have a fierce rivalry between the two races, so the Hirogen make good companions for the Federation characters in "Star Trek: Enterprise" and for the Klingons in "Star Trek: The Original Series".
