The venthyr are vampires who inhabit Revendreth in the Shadowlands and are responsible for the rehabilitation of sinful people, as the Arbiter decides. Those souls who are rehabilitated may either choose another realm in which they spend eternity or choose to become a venthyr. Rehabilitation is done by feasting parts of the soul, which cause horrendous sorrow and suddenness, ideally. Venthyr names, though there are different names, are heavily inspired by the Eastern European and Russian cultures. The latter often sound guttural and can be more difficult to pronounce.
