The 110 Best H. P. Lovecraft Literary Horror, Eldritch Abomination, and Cosmic Dread Fictions. This article is daunting to say the least. It's by no means comprehensive and certainly isn't in any order either. It actually includes many of the most popular films from this legendary author, however, which owe their roots to H. P. Lovecraft. There are a few other names here which should give you a good idea of some of the other films which are related to the H. P. Lovecraft Mythos, but that's it.
In fact, I have personally decided to place the Harry Dresden in the top ten of "lovecraftian" films. I'm a fan of his work and if anyone wants to call me that then I would be happy to accept it and call myself such. However, Harry is actually more of an antihero. I like to think of him as a survivor of the worst things possible. He has been through the worst the world could throw at him and has not only survived, but he thrived and grew stronger. Harry's life has been a struggle every step of the way since he lost his parents when he was very young, but he has managed to survive and now he has to learn to become a better person. This is what makes him such a great hero of mine.
Harry has survived the horror of his childhood but he still has to survive the horror of his adulthood, as well. The film "Lagrange Point" is one example of Harry surviving the horrors of adulthood, however, and finding that strength and courage to continue on. I believe this is what H. P. Lovecraft was going for with the character of Harry Dresden and his works.
